Our Story

MyBya was born from a vision to revolutionize athletic performance through the power of science and data. Founded in 1999 by Shannon Grady, a world-renowned sports physiologist, elite runner, triathlete, and author of The Lactate Revolution,

MyBya began with a groundbreaking approach to understanding human performance. Shannon’s pioneering work in lactate dynamics laid the foundation for the platform, driven by her relentless curiosity and commitment to unlocking the keys of athletic potential.

Shannon developed the MyBya platform via analysis of over 100,000 athlete biomarker and biometric samples, combined with extensive training and performance data analytics. This vast repository of data, meticulously collected and studied over decades, has allowed Shannon to develop cutting-edge methodologies that redefine how athletes train, recover, and optimize potential.

What started as a mission to bridge the gap between sports science and practical application has grown into a platform that empowers athletes and coaches worldwide with personalized, data-driven insights.

Coach Comstock

Ryan Comstock has been coaching high school and collegiate teams for the past 22 years.  He began implementing Shannon’s blood lactate protocol into his coaching programs in 2013 and hasn’t looked back since.

Most recently, at Haverford Township High School, he guided New Balance NIL athlete, Olivia Cieslak to personal bests of 2:03.84 in the 800 and 4:39.76 for 1600m.  She also showed tremendous range with PRs of 17:35 for 5k in cross country and 55.97 in the open 400m, even achieving a few sub 55 second FAT relay splits. He also assisted with implementing System Based Training to the 2024 girl's cross country PA State Championship season. In 2023 he helped Patrick Lawson improve to a 4:11 1-mile and in 2025, junior Teddy Foster to his big personal best mark of 4:13 for 1 mile.

While at the helm of West Chester University’s men and women distance runners he patiently developed Josh Coakley into  becoming the first athlete in PSAC history to earn conference titles in cross country, indoor 3k and 5k and the outdoor 10k and 5k - all while in the same school year.  Coakley also was the programs first male NCAA DII cross country championship qualifier in over 15 years, while earning the PSAC cross country Athlete of the Year Award. Competing two years at WCU, Diana Dunn, was the 2016 PSAC cross country freshman of the year as well as earning All-PSAC honors 9 times en route to improving her mile over 30 seconds and 5k mark over 2 minutes.  In 2017 the women’s team showed historic improvement which included their best conference and regional finish in 34 years.

While at Conestoga high school, among the first athletes a young coach Comstock worked with was 2005 Footlocker Finalist Liz Costello who after many PA state championships, went on to earn four NCAA All-America honors and a professional running career with New Balance – Boston, where she finished fifth at the USA Olympic Trials for the 10,000m run.  In 2014 he helped Andrew Marston, who was among his first SBT athletes, to eclipsing the PA State cross country course record as well as hitting a PA All-Time top 10 mark in the 3200m run.

Coach Comstock can help talk you through any questions or concerns on how to work within the mybyaap established volume parameters with your athletes pace charts and/or heart rate zone runs or how you can expect to see your athlete’s training evolve over time.  If you have concerns on what the learning curve could be from your current program towards something new, he is available for support and guidance.  He has a wealth of experience individualizing team training sessions that include middle of the pack runners to top tier elite athletes.
